Meghan Markle's Mom Was There to Welcome Her First Grandchild
While some of Meghan Markle's more outspoken family members continue to stir up drama, there's one relative who has stuck by her side: her mom, Doria Ragland. When Meghan and Prince Harry welcomed their son on Monday, May 6, the new grandma was there to celebrate the arrival.
Meghan has gushed about her mom over the years too, so it's no surprise she wanted her there.
The statement, which was released by Buckingham Palace and shared by the official royal family Instagram account, also revealed that Doria is with the new family of three at Frogmore Cottage. Read the full statement here:
Baby Sussex is Doria's first grandchild. The proud mom (and now grandmother!) has previously shared her excitement about the new addition. When the pregnancy news was first announced last October, Doria said she was "very happy at this lovely news" and was "looking forward to welcoming her first grandchild."
Meghan and her mom are notably close, and Doria was present for the royal baby's birth, after arriving in London in recent weeks as Meghan neared her due date. Meghan, who is Doria's only child, once told Glamour that the duo "can just have so much fun together, and yet I'll still find so much solace in her support." She continued: "that duality coexists the same way it would in a best friend."
